The previous winter had been particularly demanding on our family. We had just moved into our dream house in the suburbs, and while it was a labour of love, it was also exhausting. To celebrate our new beginning, I decided a getaway was in order. Choosing the right destination was challenging, especially with two teenage boys more captivated by their smartphones than anything else. When I mentioned the idea to my personal trainer, he immediately suggested Budapest. He spoke of its beauty, modernity, and lack of overwhelming tourist crowds.
Over dinner, I proposed the idea to my wife, Fiona, and our sons, Soren and Lars. Fiona was instantly on board, while Soren and Lars barely looked up from their screens. Determined to make the trip perfect, I had my PA arrange a chauffeur to assist us throughout our stay.

When we landed in Budapest, Balazs greeted us with a sign displaying our family name. He drove an immaculate Mercedes V-Class, and soon we were on our way to the Prestige Hotel. Over the next five days, Balazs became our chauffeur, but also our guide and companion. His knowledge of the city was impeccable, leading us to unforgettable experiences like watching the sunset from the Danube riverbank or exploring Castle Hill.
Balazs’s recommendations for shopping on Andrássy Avenue were spot-on, and his suggestion to dine at Borkonyha Winekitchen Restaurant gave us a meal to remember. His many stories about Hungary and Budapest locations charmed us, even our teenage sons. By the third day, I noticed Soren and Lars were more engaged, genuinely enjoying the city and Balazs’s knowledge. By the fourth day, Soren even forgot his phone at the hotel, eager to explore more!
Our week in Budapest flew by, filled with cherished moments and a newfound appreciation for travel. When we returned to Denmark, we brought back our luggage full of souvenirs, but we also carried many memories of a great city. Balazs’ exceptional care and professionalism had a lot to do with making it a truly unforgettable experience.

“Seeing bonds strengthen as my passengers discover the city’s beauty and history together reminds me of the true essence of travel: connection, discovery, and shared experiences.”
