An unforgettable Champions League final weekend in Madrid with Fabricio

I will never forget the day: 1st June 2019. I surprised my husband with VIP tickets to the Champions League final at Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid. A lifelong Liverpool supporter, he was overjoyed. We flew in on Saturday morning, and as we landed at Barajas airport, our chauffeur, Fabricio, was waiting with a sign bearing our family name under the Liverpool badge—a small touch I’d requested. The shine in my husband’s eyes confirmed it had been a great idea. I smiled and nodded at Fabricio, silently thanking him for his willingness to help. His polite demeanour and professionalism reassured me that we were in good hands.

To make the most of our time, Fabricio took us on a brief, enjoyable tour of Madrid, highlighting its modern charm. On his recommendation, we stopped for a relaxing coffee in Plaza Mayor after lunch, where we couldn’t contain our excitement about the evening’s event. We could see the streets filled with people strolling around or just sitting on terraces, enjoying tapas and engaging in lively conversations.

In the afternoon, Fabricio expertly navigated the security checks at the stadium, dropping us off at the VIP entrance. The atmosphere was electric, and Liverpool’s victory made it a night to remember. Despite the crowd, Fabricio quickly spotted us after the match, and we were soon on our way to Hotel Wellington, near Parque del Retiro. My husband was excitedly recounting the game during the whole ride.

The next morning, Fabricio picked us up punctually. As a final gesture, and revealing himself as a soccer fan, he gifted my husband with Real Madrid’s scarf, hoping that both teams would meet the following year. This thoughtful act made our trip even more memorable. Fabricio’s exceptional service and the unforgettable weekend in Madrid are cherished memories we will always treasure.
