As an academic specializing in indigenous communities, I was honored to be invited to speak at a conference hosted by Universidad de los Andes. When my flight landed at Bogotá’s airport, I was greeted by my courteous chauffeur Juan Carlos, who upon boarding his elegant car offered me a bottle of water and some snacks.

The event at Universidad de los Andes was truly remarkable. And the audience, a mix of scholars, students, and advocates, engaged deeply with my presentation. It was a pleasure to be part of such an enriching exchange of ideas.
After delivering my speech at the university, I found myself with ample spare time before my return flight, So, curious about Bogotá’s contrasting neighborhoods, I asked Juan Carlos to show me around. He took me on a stimulating tour, blending the city’s modern and historic sides.
The highlight of my trip came when, at my request, Juan Carlos arranged a brief meeting with representatives from vulnerable communities and refugees. This unexpected opportunity deepened my understanding of the social issues I study and, although we traveled through some of Bogotá’s less privileged neighborhoods, the ride felt completely secure thanks to the armored vehicle Juan Carlos was driving.
Back at the airport, I realized it had been a short but very formative trip. Juan Carlos’s attentiveness and ability to connect me with meaningful experiences made my stay in Bogotá priceless, and I’m already looking forward to returning.

“I aim to provide safe, enriching journeys that allow my clients to explore Bogotá’s depth and diversity.”
