Next stop: Mobile World Congress
Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC) will open its doors from the 22nd to the 25th of February and will take place, as usual, in one of the largest exhibition centers in Europe, the Fira de Barcelona.
The upcoming congress, the eleventh to take place in Barcelona, is the largest trade show of the mobile industry and will again have the sector’s most important brands in attendance. Some of these companies, such as Samsung, LG, and Huawei, have announced that they will have product launch events as a prelude to the MWC.
Thus, the event preview, which will take place on Sunday, February 21st, will center around the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S7, which will be introduced to the world by the South Korean giant. LG will not be left behind and will reveal the new LG G5. Huawei, meanwhile, hopes to surprise the world with the new P9.
Some Interesting Figures about the MWC
Organized by the GSMA (Groupe Speciale Mobile Association), the Mobile World Congress is an annual event. It is estimated that, since its arrival to Barcelona (it was originally held in France), it has had an economic impact of more than 3.5 billion euros. Last year (the tenth year in Barcelona), the congress brought together approximately 2,100 businesses and more than 94,000 visitors. It is estimated that on this occasion around 2,200 businesses and around 95,000 people will participate.
A Luxury Conference
Every year, WMC brings together first-rate panelists. CEOs, founders, and business executives from the largest companies in the tech industry will be responsible for a vast conference program that will focus on the future of the mobile and digital industry, with particular attention to the most recent technological developments, next-generation services, and business growth strategies. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, will be one of the presenters of the event for the third consecutive year.
Smart cities
Among the planned events, an area of 2,000 square meters has been set aside for an exposition titled “Innovation City”, which for the second time will reproduce a city of the future, where the interconnectivity of the objects we use every day will be highlighted.
In addition, a session about Smart Cities Sustainability has been planed for Monday, February 22nd. Experts will show examples of smart systems and discuss how the ecosystem, as a whole, can deal with challenges in order to make sure smart cities can become a reality.
We will be in attendance with our project, Shotl.com
Smart cities require intelligent solutions for their most important problems. Shotl.com is our contribution to solving the problems of transit in cities. It provides an on-demand bus transit solution, created to optimize urban journeys for passengers in a way that is comfortable and affordable. In addition to complementing traditional public transit services, Shotl.com reduces traffic congestion and pollution caused by transit saturation. The service functions through a simple app that allows the user to make a transit agreement, from their location to a destination, knowing the anticipated travel time in advance.
Definitively, WMC will bring businesses and consumers together for four spectacular days of conferences, exhibitions, workshops, networking events, and much more. We’ll see you there!
